In my 30 years in the plastics industry, I’ve seen one issue destroy a sanitary ware brand faster than anything else: Yellowing.
If you are a bathtub or shower tray manufacturer, you know that the quality of your final product depends entirely on the raw sheet you put into your vacuum forming machine. Choose the wrong sheet, and your tubs will crack during transport or yellow within a year of installation.
At Jinbao Plastic, we don't just sell plastic; we provide the foundation for your brand’s reputation. Today, I want to explain exactly what a Sanitary Grade Acrylic Bathtub Sheet is, how it differs from standard PMMA, and why the "Virgin Material" standard is non-negotiable for your factory.
Direct Answer:
A Sanitary Grade Acrylic Sheet is a specialized PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate) panel engineered specifically for thermoforming into bathtubs, shower trays, and liners. Unlike standard advertising acrylic, sanitary sheets feature high cross-linking for superior chemical resistance, UV stabilizers to prevent discoloration, and high gloss finishes that resist bacteria retention.
For manufacturers, the most common specification is 3mm to 6mm thickness in pure white or custom colors, typically supplied with a specialized PE masking film that withstands heat during the molding process.
Many importers ask me, "Alan, why is there a price difference between Supplier A and Jinbao?" The answer almost always lies in the raw material purity.
100% Virgin PMMA (Jinbao Standard): Made from pure Mitsubishi monomer. It allows for deep-draw thermoforming without thinning out or whitening at the curves. It stays white for 10+ years.
Recycled/Mixed Acrylic: Often contains "regrind" material. It looks white initially but turns yellow rapidly when exposed to hot water and UV light. It is also brittle, leading to higher rejection rates in your factory.
This is the most technical decision you will make. At Jinbao, we produce both, but we recommend specific types for specific applications.
Feature | Cast Acrylic (Cell Cast) | Extruded Acrylic |
Hardness | Higher (M-100 Rockwell). More scratch-resistant. | Softer. Prone to surface scratches. |
Thermoforming | Excellent memory. Maintains thickness better in corners. | Easier to form (flows better), but can thin out excessively. |
Chemical Resistance | Superior. Resists aggressive bathroom cleaners. | Moderate. Can "craze" (micro-crack) with harsh solvents. |
Production Speed | Slower production, higher cost. | Faster production, lower cost. |
Best Use | High-End Jacuzzis & Freestanding Tubs | Standard Drop-in Tubs & Shower Trays |
My Recommendation: For premium sanitary ware brands, Cast Acrylic is the gold standard. It feels more solid and offers the luxury finish your customers expect.
When you order from Jinbao, we ensure our sheets meet the rigorous demands of your vacuum forming and fiberglass reinforcement processes.
Tensile Strength: ≥ 760 kg/cm² (Ensures the sheet doesn't tear during deep molding).
Heat Distortion Temp: ≥ 100°C (Vital for maintaining shape after cooling).
Masking: We use an easy-peel, thermoform-compatible PE film. It protects the glossy surface during shipping and molding but peels off cleanly without leaving glue residue on your finished tub.
Since 1996, we have grown into China's leading acrylic manufacturer because we understand the factory floor. We don't just ship containers; we solve production headaches.
Scale: With 35 production lines, we can fulfill orders of 200 tons per month without bottlenecks.
Consistency: Our color matching lab ensures that the "White" you order today matches the "White" you order next year.
Logistics: We export to 120+ countries. We know how to pack acrylic to prevent moisture absorption and warping during ocean freight.
Your bathtub is only as good as the sheet it’s made from. Don't risk your brand's reputation on inferior materials that crack or yellow.
If you are a sanitary ware factory manager or a distributor looking for a reliable partner, let’s talk specs.
